65: time to hit the road

Big day today, better sit down.

A thousand drums. A festival with participants from all over S. America. Quite remarkable; started about 10 AM and ran well into the night.

At the parade terminus was an open section with a couple of announcers, each group did a performance:

Whew. It went on long after we bailed, you could hear the drums into the night.

So as I said, we bailed, late afternoon. Strolled up into our neighboring hill, Cereo Conceptión, and had a meal at the coolest restaurant of Valparaiso — so far - Circular:

Strolling afterward, we happened into Rojo Galleria, a small art gallery run by a guy that happened to have lived in Cal a few years, so we were able to converse in English (we are steadfastly doing an hour + of Pimsleur Spanish every day, but after only a couple months of that, we are really not able to do much in the way of conversing in Spanish):

Later, shortly before sunset, this Peruvian flute & drum music started up. Here’s what it sounded & looked like out the window:

We ventured downstairs & out into the garden, and discovered they were right there:

A last stroll through Cerro Alegre before bed:

Walked 4.9 miles.
